Former Germany professional Footballer and First Team Manager of Shalke 04, Gerald Asamoah has flown into Ghana 40 Heart Surgeons and Pediatric Specialists for the second edition of his foundation’s Open Heart Surgeries event.

The event which forms part of his Corporate Social Responsibility and Philanthropic work according to him as how he decides to give back to the society. Even though he represented Germany at the international front of his playing days, he is roots are from the land of Ghana.

In a video shared by Sika Official, the 40 surgeons have arrived in the country to prepare for the event with Partnerships from the University of Ghana Medical Centre(UGMC). The event is a free surgery with targets from the less privileged and people on the street. Every expenses accrued has been captured by the Gerald Asamoah Foundation.

According to him, this year’s edition is based on the success of the maiden edition which saw twenty children under free and sponsored surgeries. The surgeries will take place at the cardiothoracic Department of the University of Ghana Medical Centre with beneficiaries already selected.

Every year, the Gerald Asamoah Foundation embarks on this journey as an act of giving back to the country of his birth, Ghana. In the 2024 edition of the program, 40 heart specialists were flown in for pediatric surgeries, building on the success of the first edition in November 2023 where twenty children received sponsored surgeries.
