Member of Parliament (MP) of Abetifi constituency and Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has assured Ghanaians of calm in Abetifi following the foiled kidnapping and destoolment attempt of acting Kwahuhene, Nana Akyeamfour Asiedu Agyemang III.

According to Bryan Acheampong, between 26-28 persons have been arrested and being held in the Nkawkaw police station.

He assured the people of Abetifi and Kwahu that the culprits will face justice, with no one being spared.

Bryan Acheampong made this known during a visit to the Kwahuhene, Nana Akyeamfour Asiedu Agyemang III after the incident.

The MP further disclosed that Nana Akyeamfour Asiedu Agyemang III is well as he has been attended to by the best doctors.

An attempt to destool the Acting President of the Kwahu Traditional Area/Abetifihene, Nana Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III, turned violent leading to countless number of people sustaining various degrees of injury.

Some young men pretending to be National Security Operatives, led by one Obaapanyin Yaa Asantewaa, posing as the Abrewatia of Kwahu stormed the area and forcibly held Nana Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III in an attempt to destool him.

Reports indicate that the fake National Security Officers who were armed to the teeth, escorted Yaa Asantewaa to the Abetifi Palace, where they detained Nana Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III, and transferred him to an older palace nearby, where she performed traditional rites to destool him.

The youth who got wind of this were angered by this coup and mobilised themselves stormed the Palace I’m which their chief was being held to free him.

The impostors upon capture were subjected to severe beatings with machetes and other weapons, causing them bodily harm.
