A concerned resident of Osu Five Junction has raised urgent concerns over the impact of the double-track system on local schools, highlighting severe congestion and infrastructure issues.
Speaking to Philip Lartey,a journalist with channel one TV the resident pointed out that Osu Presbyterian Secondary School (Osu Presby) is currently demolishing parts of its building, and Salem Boys’ School is overcrowded, putting immense pressure on the education system.
The resident expressed frustration over the lack of renovation and maintenance in local schools, particularly one near the Presbyterian Church, which they believe requires major repairs.
“It really needs a very, very huge renovation,” the resident stated, uncertain whether the school is private or government-run, but frustrated that the government has not taken action to assess the condition of the school.
Further highlighting the strain on schools, the resident mentioned Osu Presby’s ongoing demolition of a building, with rumors suggesting it might be turned into a boarding house, a new development linked to the pressures of the double-track system.
The resident explained that this system, designed to accommodate more students, has instead led to overcrowding and logistical challenges.
Recently, former students, who were supposed to move up to SS2 after completing their exams, have been facing issues as a result of the congested system.
