The Health Services Workers’ Union (HSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has issued a stern warning to the government over the ongoing delays in finalizing a new Collective Agreement with health agencies under the Ministry of Health.
The union is particularly concerned about the adverse effects these delays are having on the pensions of its members, especially regarding the release of tier-two contributions to fund managers.
In a statement, the union revealed that it submitted its proposals to the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission in November 2023, sparking initial discussions.
Formal negotiations for the new Collective Agreement began in May 2024. However, despite several months of talks, the union claims that there has been little meaningful progress in resolving the issues at hand.
The HSWU has now set a firm deadline, warning that if negotiations are not concluded by Monday, November 11, 2024, its members may be compelled to take action.
The union emphasizes that any further delays could lead to significant financial consequences for its members, especially regarding the non-payment of pension contributions.
