During JOYNEWS PM Express a guest on the show identified as Erica asked Dennis Miracle Aboagye how Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s credit scoring would work for an unemployed person.

According to Dennis Miracles Aboagye, many Ghanaians earning 1500 cedis a month can save 10,000 cedis for 20 months but are unable to buy a product a now unless they save for 20 months.

Speaking on the show he detailed, “The credit scoring system has two legs of opportunities and advantages for the country for you the unemployed, those who are employed and can buy are the ones who are driving the demand, not you, those who can buy are the ones driving the demand, that is why I am saying you are earning 1500 cedis, there are a lot of people who are earning 1500 cedis and can save 10,000 over 20 months, and they have things they want to buy now but they are saving for 20 months, so they are waiting for 20 months before they can buy what they want to buy, that delays demand”.

“But with the credit score system, that person would be able to buy that thing now, what this means is that a lot more people can buy things now which would drive demand, which would require that we are able to supply more for you the unemployed to have an opportunity to work, that is where your opportunity comes in”, he added.

He added that Dr. Bawumia has noted that there is the need to drive local production and the only way you can drive local production is when there is a way to ensure that we are buying a lot more of our locally manufactured goods.

“So, he says we have been trying to encourage people to buy made-in-Ghana goods for a very long time, and we have had challenges shall we begin to look at how we can back this with law and make it mandatory that is something we have not tried before”, he revealed.
