The era of Portuguese sensation, Cristiano Ronaldo may soon be coming to an end as the player has dropped a hint of his potential retirement, right after setting a new football record.
Following Portugal’s 5-1 defeat of Poland in the Nation’s League in which Ronaldo scored twice, he set a new record of the most international wins in men’s football.
This victory marked Ronaldo’s 132nd win in international football, resulting in him surpassing Sergio Ramos who held 131 wins with Spain.
During a press engagement after the game, Ronaldo, 39 insisted his focus remains on enjoying his football despite the looming spectre of retirement.
“I just want to enjoy [myself],” he said. “Plan for retirement? if it has to happen, in one or two years … I don’t know. I’m turning 40 soon.
“I really want to enjoy, as long as I feel motivated, I keep going. The day I don’t feel motivated, I will retire.”
