The Ghana Police Service has stated a broken seal of one of the electoral material bags in Koforidua has been resolved.
In a viral video that surfaced on social media today, 29 November 2024, the Eastern Regional Police Command where the ballot papers were being dispatched to the districts.
One of the bags containing ballot papers for Nkawkaw has all seals broken and zip tampered with.
According to a statement by the Ghana Police Service, the incident involving the broken seal of one electoral material bag in Koforidua intended for distribution to one of the constituencies within the Eastern Region has been successfully resolved.
Part of the statement by the police reads, “It has been revealed that when the bags were removed from the armory, one of the seals was found to be off. It has been established that this occurred as a result of the packing and unpacking of the bags”.
The statement further detailed the broken seal has been found and the contents of the bag have been confirmed to be intact by the stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission and representatives of the political parties who witnessed the incident.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians go to the polls in 8 days to decide their next president and their members of parliament for the next four years.
