The vice president and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been exposed again for lying to Ghanaians.
Speaking to Ghanaian youths at the Borteyman Sports Complex on November 3, 2024, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia claimed Ghana is on a list of countries with ‘zero hunger’.
Dr. Bawumia stated, “Thirdly, Ghana is on the list of countries with zero hunger, zero hunger”.
According to information in the 2024 Sustainable Development Report, no country has achieved SDG Goal 2 which seeks to eradicate hunger by 2030.
The claim made by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been revealed to be FALSE as Ghana has been flagged as one of the numerous countries with “major challenges” in achieving this goal although moderately increasing towards it.
Worldwide, only a few countries have made substantial strides toward reducing hunger rates to low or minimal levels.
It has also been revealed that no country has fully achieved the Zero Hunger goal due to ongoing issues like food insecurity, malnutrition, and economic inequality.
