Speaker Alban Bagbin, has been criticised for acting immature instead of steering the affairs of Parliament in a matured manner.

Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi in an engagement with journalists said, “When we get involved in this…childish antics, it doesn’t inspire me at all. Why would we get into this confusion for us to expect institutions like the Peace Council, and the Council of State to invite us into discussions? Why do we need to invite a third party?

“Indeed we need to grow a class of statesmen more than a class of partisan politicians and let the politicians also be warned that as much as we attack each other unnecessarily, we open ourselves to attacks from the public. How honourable have we become? We need to defend that title.”

According to him, such behaviour only raises tensions in the country, with the citizenry suffering for that.

Appiah-Kubi criticised what he described as childish antics that have dominated parliamentary discourse, particularly following a recent decision by the Speaker of Parliament to declare four parliamentary seats vacant.
