Akufo-Addo appoints Energy Minister with 47 days to leave office

President Akufo-Addo has appointed Mr. Herbert Krapah as the substantive Energy Minister to replace the now Running Mate of the NPP, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The appointment was to take effect, Tuesday November 19, 2024 following NAPO’s resignation from the position to focus on his future Vice Presidential position with Dr. Bawumia. Mr. Herbert Krapah before his appointment was the Minister of Sate at the Energy Ministry since July 15, 2024. He succeeds his boss NAPO with some few days to end the eight years tenure of the Akufo-Addo legacy and government.

According to the communique from the Presidency, signed by Mr. Eugene Arhin, Mr. Krapa has demonstrated exceptional diligence, professionalism and steadfast commitment to his duties since his appointment to office in July, 2024. He is being touted as a man who has in all directions contributed to the stability and progress of the Energy Sector in the country.

Herbert Krapa before his appointment as Minister of state at the Energy Ministry, had previously served as the deputy Minister for Trades and Industry. He is a governance and legal expert who had also served as Government Spokesperson on Governance and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Information until December 2020.
