Africa Facts Zone has released yet another report and it is clear Ghanaian Artistes are performing poorly on the digital and world rankings with regards to their projects.

According to the report, no Ghanaian Artiste both in Ghana and Europe, made the cut to the top ten and fifteen of the Africa’s Best Selling Artiste Chart. The chart is highly and largely dominated by Ghana’s West African rival Nigeria, with a few spots being clinched by Egypt, Algeria and some Eastern African Artistes.

The chart which ranked the Artistes based on Unit reports Cheb Khaled from Algeria as Africa’s Best-selling Artiste accruing 81 million units. Khaled Hadj Ibrahim, better known by his mononym Khaled, is an Algerian raï singer, musician and songwriter. He began recording in his early teens under the name Cheb Khaled. Khaled is one of the most important musicians in the history of Raï music in his native Algeria and is one the world’s best-known Arab singers.

Trailing closely to the Algerian is Nigeria’s Wizkid recording 60 million units, Egypts’ Amr Diab ranks third with 50 million units. Burna Boy of Nigeria, Tamer Hosny of Egypt, Sherine also from Egypt and P-Square from Nigeria, follows suit on the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh position respectively with 40 million units.

The absence of Ghanaian Artistes on the chart poses a big question to what the industry players are doing wrong, the structures and system that are required and also how well the Artistes and their management are marketing themselves.
