According to the survey by the Afrobarometer, in the past 12 months in Ghana, eight out of ten Ghanaians representing 82% have experienced some degree of poverty.

The reports by the Afrobarometer further hit on the hardship Ghanaians face under the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government with the constant depreciation of the cedi and rising food prices.

The Akufo-Addo Bawumia government has however constantly blamed external factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war for Ghanaians’ severe hardship.

Unfortunately, President Akufo-Addo and his government have been very reluctant to admit the truth even when it stares at them right in the face.

The Afrobarometer report is a Pan-African, non-partisan survey research network that provides trustworthy data on African occurrences and assessments of democracy, governance, and quality of life.

Its goal is to give African citizens a voice in policy and decision-making.
