Fatawa Issahaku suffers knee injury, set to miss out on season remainder

Ghanaian and Leicester City winger, Fatawu Issahaku will miss out on the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during Ghana’s game with Angola in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The winger had a bad landing following an aerial duel in the first half of Ghana’s qualifying game. Although the player suffered the injury after landing, he played through the pain until the end of the first half of the game.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced that he had “significant issues with his knee,” before the game.

Issahaku, who is playing in his maiden Premier League season with Leicester City, took to his Instagram to provide an update on his fitness after undergoing a successful surgery.

“Alhamdulilai all glory be to Almighty Allah my Surgery was successful and I just want to tell you that I am okay and I am feeling good after the surgery I want to thank everyone for your best wishes,” his post on Instagram Read.

The Leicester City midfielder is expected to miss six to nine months of action on the sidelines.

Fatawu has provided two assists in 11 league games for Leicester this season.

After an impressive season in the Championship, where he helped Leicester City gain promotion last season, he was considered one of the talents to have a breakout season in the English top flight.
