Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, founder of Action Chapel International, has expressed deep frustration over repeated attacks against him for praying for Ghana, especially during election seasons. During a sermon on October 14, 2024, the archbishop questioned the motives of those who criticize him, highlighting their selfishness in putting party politics above the nation’s interest.

Reflecting on past elections, Archbishop Duncan-Williams recounted a striking moment when a former president turned against him, despite receiving his prayers when he was in opposition. “In 2016, 2008, 2012, the same thing happened. I had to confront a president in those days because somebody had gone to lie about me to him. I said, ‘Mr. President, why are you doing this? Did I not pray for you when you were in opposition?'”

His message was clear—politicians who once sought his prayers in difficult times should not now harbor resentment just because he prays for their rivals. “You used to come here when you were in opposition, so why do you have a problem with me praying for the opposition now?” the archbishop asked, emphasizing the double standards of these leaders.

Duncan-Williams stressed that his prayers are not tied to any political party but are for the good of the country as a whole. He urged his critics to reflect on their actions and ask themselves why they are upset with him if they truly care about Ghana.

“If you don’t have mischief, evil, and wickedness in your heart, why are you angry with me? Why do you care more about your party than the nation?” he asked, highlighting the importance of putting the country’s welfare above political allegiances.

In his impassioned sermon, the archbishop also issued a stern warning to those who continue to attack him for his prayers. “In 2016, I was attacked. In 2020, the same thing happened. But this time around, they will not go unpunished. Let the sword of vengeance of God visit them in their dwellings,” he declared.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams’ call for politicians and citizens alike to prioritize the nation’s well-being over partisan politics serves as a powerful reminder of the need for unity and collective responsibility in shaping Ghana’s future.
