National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) , Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says the party will not allow any efforts to prevent Ghanaians living in Togo from voting in the December 7, 2024 general elections.
Speaking at a rally in Ziope in the Agotime Ziope, Asiedu Nketia claimed the ROPA law introduced by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) sought to disenfranchise a section of the Ghanaian public, but insisted the NDC will not allow that happen under their eagle watch.
“So, the logic they want us to understand is that if you are a Ghanaian and you are living in America and you fly to Kotoka International Airport, they will allow you to go and vote. But if you are Ghanaian living in Togo and you want to come and vote in your hometown that one you are a Togolese, you are a stranger so we must not allow you to vote. We shall not accept that discrimination,” he said.
According to Asiedu Nketia, the NPP will try and prevent Ghanaians living in Togo form coming into Ghana to vote, but assured the people of the border town the NDC will make sure they exercise their franchise.
