the Vice President and Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasized the significance of the moment as he officially launched the Ghana Music Xperience (GMX) streaming platform in Accra.

“This is a historic moment for Ghana…to have our own music streaming app. It is my distinct honor and pleasure to formally launch GMX, Ghana’s locally made streaming app,” he stated.

GMX is a leading music streaming platform created by Ghanaians, for Ghanaians. It brings together an exclusive collection of the best Ghanaian music, celebrating the country’s rich musical heritage and contemporary sounds.

From highlife to hiplife, afrobeat to traditional rhythms, GMX offers a seamless music experience tailored specifically for the Ghanaian audience, allowing listeners to enjoy chart-topping hits and discover emerging artists.

The launch event took place at the De Iconic Events Centre in East Legon on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, and attracted dignitaries and stakeholders from the entertainment industry.

Notable attendees included Mr. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture; Bessa Simons, the President of MUSIGA; and Mr. Akwesi Agyeman, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority. Renowned artists such as rapper E.L., Zapp Mallet, Samini, Fred Kyei Mensah, and Kaywa were also present.

The evening was further enlivened by an outstanding performance from celebrated traditional artist King Ayisoba, who thrilled patrons with his energetic display, showcasing the vibrant culture that GMX aims to promote.
