The Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has stated the Professor of economics Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia no longer gives lectures on the economy.
According to John Mahama, he has been watching an old video of Dr. Bawumia lecturing about the economy when he John Mahama was in government which he finds intriguing.
Speaking to some residents at a campaign platform he said, “The foreign currency and I was watching that video again and anytime I watch it I am intrigued what he said was very true, he said if in doubt watch the exchange rates and that you can do all the propaganda with the economy but if the fundamentals are weak the exchange rates will expose you at that time he was talking the exchange rate was below 4, so today at 17 cedis to 1 dollar if in doubt watch the exchange rates”.
“Now the professor of economics can no longer give lectures on economics, he doesn’t comment on economics anymore and that was the principal reason for which he was brought into Akufo-Addo government”, he reiterated.
John Mahama further went on to warn his incoming appointees should the NDC regain power in the December polls, “A warning to my appointees if you come into the office and you do the same things that NPP has done and the anti-corruption institutions are dealing with you that will be your matter, I will have nothing to do with it, we need a government that will really protect the public purse, not a government that will promise protect the purse and steal the purse now the purse is not even there”, john Mahama added.
