Despite this ECG’s outstanding debt to Sunon Asogli has reached a staggering 259million dollars excluding fuel cost as of the end of September 2024.

The company also reported a significant increase in its debt with the 23% rise in the net balance between January and September 2024, additionally only 22.6% of the invoices for this period have been settled by ECG through the cash waterfall mechanism.

The suspension of the power plant is expected to have wide implications for electricity supply in the country raising concerns about potential power outages.
