This decision comes after an emergency meeting yesterday October 14, 2024, during which the associations received a formal letter from the government addressing key demands.

The letter indicated that the government had approved the new rates for the Vehicle Maintenance Allowance (VMA) and Off-Campus Allowance for eligible members of the associations.

According to the National Executive Committees of the associations announced that the suspension of the strike would allow for further engagement with government to finalise negotiations on the Conditions of Service (COS), which were already underway.

The NEC also emphasized that other issues highlighted in the original strike notice, including the migration of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC) onto the Universities Pay Structure, are being actively addressed.
