Bishop Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, the parents of Elrad Amoako, whose actions led to a crash that resulted in the deaths of two individuals in East Legon have both been granted bail by a High Court in Accra.
A third accused, Linda Bempah, described by the prosecution as a sales assistant at Lilo Stitches, which is owned by the suspect’s brother, has also been granted bail.
Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako were arrested by the police on Tuesday and appeared in court on Wednesday.
Bishop Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako have been charged with allowing an unlicensed person to drive.
During police interrogation, they admitted to permitting their son, Elrad Amoako, to drive to the gym and other locations and also revealed that Linda Bempah, the third accused, provided Elrad with the keys to a Jaguar owned by Mouha Amoako.
In court, the defense argued for bail, highlighting the accused’s stable employment, fixed residences, and social standing, asserting that they would not commit further offenses or interfere with the investigation.
They also noted that the charge is a minor offense.
Although the prosecution did not oppose the bail application, they requested strict conditions, which made the judge ultimately grant each of the accused a of GHc 50,000.
