The tragic loss of Justine Agbenu, one of the victims of the recent East Legon car accident, has left her family in deep sorrow. Her grandmother, in a heart-wrenching revelation, shared that Justine was the only child of her parents. The 19-year-old’s death has shaken the family, who are struggling to cope with the devastating reality.

Speaking emotionally, Justine’s grandmother recounted the young girl’s vibrant nature on the day of the accident. “My granddaughter woke up very excited that Saturday. She made her own breakfast, and she was thrilled because one of her friends had just returned from Canada with lots of gifts for her. She was pumped up,” she said, remembering Justine’s last moments with her friend, Maame Dwomor.

The family is determined to seek justice, with the grandmother emphasizing the importance of holding those responsible accountable. “He must face the law fully. If not, things like these will continue. I know justice will not bring back my granddaughter, but it will serve as a deterrent to others. We are spoiling our children,” she stated with a mixture of grief and resolve.

The family has also rebuffed attempts by Bishop Salifu Amoako’s emissaries to plead on behalf of those involved. Justine’s grandmother disclosed that she sent them away, as she believes the matter is now in the hands of the police. She expressed frustration, saying some of the people sent by the Bishop made insensitive comments during their visit. “What were they coming to do? The issue is with the police. On Sunday, one of them called my son-in-law, saying they wanted to come here. My son-in-law told them there was no need, and their response was, ‘it has happened already.’”

While no form of justice can undo the tragic loss, the family hopes that this case will serve as a lesson and a warning to prevent future tragedies.
