Pure water sellers have joined in the anti-galamsey protest by selling galamsey pure water to Ghanaians.

The galamsey water was branded in the usual pure water consumed by Ghanaians. The water named “Pure Galamsey Water” had a logo that looked like the Ghana Standard Authority logo.

The water sellers were spotted in traffic busily selling their water to Ghanaians.

In the post on X by Abeeku he shared pictures of the protest by the pure water sellers. Ghanaians who bought the water could not hide their shock as they were amazed by the look of the galamsey pure water.

The protest by the pure water sellers follows a recent protest by Ghanaians which showed their displeasure against illegal mining destroying the river bodies in the country and are demanding action from the government against illegal mining.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Water Company on numerous occasions has said they are unable to treat the water for its consumers due to the turbidity of the water from these galamsey-affected rivers, forcing the company’s treatment plant in some regions to shut down on some occasions.

In a press statement dated October 9, 2024, President Akufo-Addo directed the Minister for Defense to deploy additional military forces to intensify the ongoing “Operation Halt”, which aims to curb illegal mining activities.
