American economist and professor of applied economics at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, Steve Hanke, has taken a swipe at Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

His comments come on the back of the country’s rising inflation rate.

Ghana has seen a marginal rise in inflation for the month of September to 21.5 percent. The rise in inflation has been attributed to the increase in food inflation.

The government however has envisioned to end the year 2024 with an inflation target of 15 percent.

According to Steve Hanke, Ghana’s inflation rate is the ninth (9th) highest in the world, attributing this to the failure of the country’s president to manage its economy prudently.

Under the #SaveGhanaNow, a post he made on X read, “Today, I measure Ghana’s inflation at a RED-HOT 40%/yr. That is the 9th HIGHEST in the world. Pres. Akufo-Addo = MASTER of DISASTER.”
