Peter Norstu slams Ministry of Education over 2024 SHS reopening date for first-year students

Ranking Member on Parliament’s Education Committee, Peter Norstu Kotoe, has strongly condemned the government’s decision regarding the reopening date for first-year senior high school students in 2024.

He asserted that this timeline is fundamentally flawed, as it disregards the significant challenges students are currently facing, including an urgent need for more preparation time and essential resources.

First-year students are reporting to various senior high schools today to commence the 2024-2025 academic year. However, some parents are pleading for an extension of the arrival period, citing the current situation as an inconvenience.

Some parents are however pleading for an extension of the period of arrival for the first year students in the various senior high schools across the country as they say the situation is an inconvenience.

In response to this situation, Ranking Member on Education in Parliament, Peter Norstu Kotoe, urged the government to reconsider the reopening date.

He emphasized the need to prioritize the needs of students to foster a more supportive educational environment.

Meanwhile spokesperson of the Ministry of Education Kwasi Kwarteng said the government has put in measure to ensure that students do not feel the impact of the short notice
