Over 28,000 public services workers threaten to strike on October 21

More than 28, 000 members of the Public Services Workers Union have threatened to withdraw all services effective October 21, 2024 over the Finance Ministry’s failure to pay their allowances on the single spine salary structure.

The strike will affect operations of the Electoral Commission, Ghana Statistical Service and the National Commission on Civic Education, (NCCE).

At a news conference in Accra, the leadership of the union led by Bernard Adjei is General Secretary of the Public Services Workers Union directed its members on the single spine to begin wearing red arm bands from October 15 and effectively lay down their tools on the announced date.
