Presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has raised alarms about the declining state of politics in Ghana.

He expressed concern over the increasing monetization of the electoral process, noting that many voters now prioritize financial incentives over important qualities like intelligence and substance in candidates. Ayariga believes this trend has significantly weakened the integrity of the political system.

He argued that the presidency is being viewed more as a business venture than as a noble office dedicated to public service. He noted that some business opportunists align themselves with political parties such as the NPP and NDC to advance their interests.

He condemned the lack of patriotic leadership, emphasizing that many politicians prioritize personal financial gain over national service.

Additionally, he raised alarm over the influence of foreign interests in controlling Ghana’s natural resources and land, warning that the presidency remains the only safeguard for the country’s sovereignty.

He stressed the importance of leaders genuinely committed to serving the nation. He cautioned that if the trend of monetizing political offices continues, there is a risk that foreign interests could influence future presidential elections.

According to him, the presidency has shifted from being a platform of ideas to one driven by money, enabling wealthy individuals to secure the highest office in the country.
