Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, socialite, popularly known as Bullgod, has sent a stern message to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his administration, suggesting they might end up behind bars after leaving office. He advised the President and his team to renovate the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, as they could end up spending time there for their alleged involvement in corruption and illegal mining activities.
Appearing on UTV’s United Showbiz program on October 5, 2024, Bullgod said, “From Nana Akufo-Addo to the presidential staffers, I’m giving you an assignment. There are only three months left in office. If you know what’s best, go and renovate Nsawam Prison, because that is where you will end up spending the rest of your life.”
His remarks come amid rising public frustration over illegal mining, commonly called “galamsey.” Many Ghanaians are calling for tougher actions from the government, which they see as having failed to adequately tackle the issue. The recent arrests and prosecution of protesters who spoke out against illegal mining have further heightened the tension.
Just recently, hundreds of Ghanaians took to the streets as part of a three-day protest organized by the Citizens Coalition Against Illegal Mining. They demanded that the government take immediate action to stop illegal mining and release the detained protesters. The demonstrations in Accra were aimed at sending a strong message to authorities about the need for accountability and urgent reforms.
Bullgod’s comments echo the frustrations of many who are disappointed with the government’s handling of galamsey and are demanding consequences for those believed to be involved in corrupt practices
