Workers expressed their frustration over the NIA’s failure to implement a newly approved Scheme of Service, stating that this inability undermines their rights and expectations as employees.

They have made it clear that they will not cease their industrial action until the promised scheme is put into effect, viewing the delay as a breach of trust and a threat to their welfare.

In a statement signed by Dr. Bernice A. Welbeck, Director of Administration and Human Resources, the Union alleges that the NIA has failed to operationalize the Scheme of Service, prompting the strike.

‘’Per the Notice under reference, the Union is alleging that the National Identification Authority has failed and/or refused to operationalize the newly approved Scheme of Service (SoS) and as a result the Union has instituted an Industrial Action effective today, 7th October, 2024 until the SoS is implemented’’
