An irritated ##FreeTheCitizens protestor, says the police had no cause to arrest Democracy Hub demonstrators for burning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag.
According to him, the NPP flag does not qualify as state property, hence the police holding demonstrators on that charge is bogus.
“If our friends, brothers and sisters were burning down NPP flags or tearing down NPP or NDC posters, is that what you term as destroying state property?
Is NPP in Ghana or Ghana is in the NPP,” he retorted angrily.
The young believes so far as protestors never torched the Ghana flag, then the 54 Democracy Hub demonstrators cannot be held for destroying public property.
He argues the police rather broke the law by towing away a car belonging to demonstrators.
A 3-day protest under the hashtags, #FreeTheCitizens and #SayNoToGalamsey is currently ongoing in Ghana.
This protest is to draw attention to the effects of galamsey on Ghana and also demand for the release of some 54 #Democracy Hub demonstrators arrested and charged with various charged, including conspiracy to commit a crime, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, and offensive conduct.
“Is the NPP in Ghana, or Ghana is in the NPP” – this gotta be the most profound quote of the protest! Fearless 💪 #FreeTheCitizens#StopGalamseyNow pic.twitter.com/BLlgRrfNRf
