Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, founder of Action Chapel International, has passionately spoken out against individuals who, in his view, prioritize political party interests over the well-being of Ghana. During a sermon on October 14, 2024, he addressed his congregation, lamenting the repeated attacks he has faced during various elections in the Fourth Republic, simply for praying for the nation.

Reflecting on his experiences over the years, Duncan-Williams recounted witnessing every election since the era of President Rawlings in 1979. He has consistently been targeted for his prayers and intercessions, but this time, he has had enough. The archbishop expressed his frustration with those who harbor malice against him for praying for the country, calling out their misaligned priorities.

“If you don’t have mischief, evil, and wickedness in your heart, why are you upset with me? Why are you angry with me for praying for the good of this country? If you care about Ghana and not just your political party, you wouldn’t be against what I’m doing,” Duncan-Williams declared.

He recounted specific instances in previous elections, including 2008, 2012, and 2016, where he faced similar accusations. In one instance, he even confronted a sitting president after a falsehood was spread about him. “Mr. President, why are you doing this? Did I not pray for you when you were in opposition? You used to come here when you were in opposition, so why do you have a problem with me praying for the opposition?” he recalled.

Duncan-Williams made it clear that his prayers and actions are not aligned with any political party but are in the interest of the nation as a whole. He emphasized that selfishness and party allegiance should not take precedence over the welfare of Ghana.

“Why are you angry with me if you love this country? What is all this selfishness about? In every election, I take a stand for Ghana, and every time, I am attacked. But this time, those who put party above country will not go unpunished. Let the sword of God’s vengeance visit them in their dwellings,” he warned.

The archbishop’s message serves as a stern reminder of the importance of prioritizing national unity over divisive political affiliations and stands as a call for Ghanaians to focus on the greater good of the nation
