The National Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kate Gyamfua, has strongly denied claims of her involvement in illegal mining.

She emphasized that she has been engaged in proper mining for 32 years and has never witnessed the level of destruction caused by greed in recent times.

In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Gyamfua expressed her concerns about the current state of mining. “Mining is a legitimate business, but if done improperly, it attracts negative connotations,” she stated.

She urged miners to leave water bodies untouched so that community members can have access to clean drinking water.
Reflecting on her own experiences, she noted, “For the past 32 years, the water that has been destroyed was once my source of water when traveling to the mining site.”

Gyamfua lamented that illegal miners have gained the audacity to operate in water bodies, tarnishing the reputation of those engaged in responsible mining practices.

She therefore appeal to miners to conduct their operations ethically and with respect for the environment.
