A Democracy Hub demonstrator, has decried the many effects the adjournment of his hearing has affected his family and well-being.
The Ghanaian who resides abroad says the adjournment has put himself and his family in jeopardy.
Speaking to the press after the court adjourned the hearing, he said, “Some of us we have to reach out to our family and things. Now, we have to be coming up and down court, back and forth till the 22nd (22nd November, 2024). Bro, I got my family in jeopardy. I am from Ghana and I need to see my daughter in Germany and I have my girlfriend in Mexico. I have a lot going on bro.”
Seven (7) democracy hub demonstrators have been discharged by a court in Accra after all charges against them were dropped on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
The seven were part of the 53 protestors who were arrested after embarking on the 3-day demonstration against illegal mining at the 37 roundabout.
After their arrest, they were charged with unlawful assembly, offensive conduct, causing unlawful damage and conspiracy to commit crime.
The court is set to hear the case of the some members of the remaining 46 demonstrators, with some having their cases adjourned to November 22, 2024.
