A 70-year-old protester has encouraged the younger generation to fight for Ghana and put an end to illegal mining commonly known as galamsey.

Joining on the Day 3 of the Concerned Citizens Anti-Galamsey protest against galamsey which is aim at demanding action against illegal mining an older protester noted that he does not have much time to live, and the younger generation must rise and fight.

He said, “I have joined them, I am even lost my way to where I’m going, don’t give them a chance the land is yours; you are the young men. Look at me I am 70, how long do I have to live? You have not given birth yet, fight for Ghana, if our forefathers destroyed the rivers and the forest would we have come to meet it? Where will Akufo-Addo get water to drink?”

He stated boldly that the younger generation should be wild and not give them an inch establishing that they are already old, and they will die and leave soon.

The Concerned Citizens Anti-Galamsey protest against galamsey are demanding action against illegal mining.

The demonstration, which ended today October 5, aims to highlight the ongoing environmental destruction caused by illegal mining, locally known as galamsey.

The protesters are also demanding the immediate release of 53 Democracy Hub protesters who were arrested and still in remand during an anti-galamsey demo some weeks ago.
