Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed that one man used two different guises to obtain twenty-three (23) mining licenses from the Minerals Commission within a space of one year.

According to him, whiles Ghanaians were protesting for government to place a ban on illegal mining, otherwise known in local parlance as galamsey, the Minerals Commission issued eleven (11) licenses to the man in question.

“You recall I revealed that on one day, 11th October 11 licenses (mining licenses) were issued.. 11 licenses with the start day 3rd October 2024….the betrayal of the Ghanaian people when you were asked to stop that, the issuance of licenses. So, I decided to do some more work on these 11 licenses. Would you believe Dr. Randy Abbey that all of these 11 licenses belong to one person, one man, Okudzeto Ablakwa said.

He listed the companies which received the 11 licenses, indicating they belonged to one Awudu Issaka (not the retired footballer). “So I decided to dig deeper and we have another Kusi Boateng situation on our hands.”

The MP disclosed that Awudu Issaka operates under two guises, one is Awudu Issaka with a separate Tax Identification Number (TIN) and a different set of mining companies and “he is Issaka Awudu with a different TIN and a different set of companies. He has 23 licenses this year alone under these 2 guises.
