A placard by a #FreeTheCitizens protestors has sent amusement throughout Ghana as the inscription on it (placard) can only get you laughing.
Although the 3-day march which started on Thursday, 3rd October, 2024 has been an intense one, with demonstrators calling on the government to ban illegal mining (galamsey), there have been some demonstrators who joined the protest to have a good time.
In an earlier interview, one demonstrator said he joined the protest “to chill”, some also claim they joined because the ‘jama’.
The most recent inscription that has brought some smiles on the faces of worried parents is the “Free Our Girlfriends” inscription.
The #FreeTheCitizens demonstration is not just a protest against galamsey, but also a protest calling for the release of some 54 Democracy Hub demonstrators who were arrested on the charges of disrupting public order, destruction of public property and other charges after they embarked on a similar demonstration from 21st September to 23rd September, 2024.
