Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo claims the NPP is a heavenly party.

According to him, God himself came down from heaven to form the NPP, “and that is why we call in the Nyame naa Party papa (God’s own party which is the best). After God formed the party, he then handed it over to Nananom (gods), and then we named it ‘Nananom Party Papa’ (the god’s own party which is the best). Nananom also gave the party to good and respectable Ghanaians and it become ‘Nipa papa party’ (the party of good people),” he said at a campaign event at Ayensuano constituency.

He argued that it is for this reason that all good things come from the NPP.

Napo further intimated that the the symbol of the NPP, the elephant, was also God given and speaks to the fact that just like no other animal in the forest comes close to the elephant in superiority, so is the NPP superior to all other political parties.
