Fatau Motorway, reportedly seen brandishing a weapon during the clashes, remains at large, prompting the police to intensify their efforts in capturing him. The violence has raised concerns about political instability, with security agencies on high alert to prevent further escalations.

In a bid to encourage public cooperation, the Police Service has announced a GH₵20,000 reward for credible information leading to the suspect’s arrest. An official statement called on the public to assist with any leads while assuring potential informants that their identities will be kept confidential and their safety protected.

The police underscored that this initiative is part of their broader efforts to ensure accountability for the violence and to promote a peaceful atmosphere as the election date approaches. They also urged political stakeholders to prioritize the importance of peace and security during the electoral process.

The Police Service remains committed to upholding law and order, and they are actively working to prevent further unrest in politically sensitive areas like Mamobi.

Background of the Incident

The October 13 clashes in Mamobi saw heated confrontations between the two major political parties’ supporters, with reports of weapons being used, including by Fatau Motorway, whose actions were allegedly captured on camera. The incident, which left several injured, has caused significant alarm ahead of the elections.

Authorities have since reinforced their presence in the area to prevent a recurrence of such violence, stressing that accountability for such political unrest is essential for maintaining Ghana’s democratic integrity.
