Ghanaians have expressed disappointment over the government’s handling of illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey,” warning that they may be compelled to vote against the current administration.

Speaking to Yawa News, they emphasized that the country’s future is at risk and that they cannot sit idly by while the government campaigns to “break the eight” without addressing issues threatening the health and safety of Ghanaians.

They criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for exacerbating the galamsey crisis through poor management.

The Akufo-Addo administration has been accused of making “political capital” out of the issue without delivering substantial results.
“Let’s all admit that as a country we have failed in solving this particular problem (galamsey),” stated one concerned citizen.

They added, “It is worse under their government because of the political capital they made out of it, to the extent that the president will come out and say I have put my presidency on the line.”
