Prof. RoseEmma Entsua-Mensah a fishery Scientist and Aquatic Ecologist has said fishes in Ghana’s water bodies are dying due to galamsey.

The professor explained that the fishes die because of the galamsey activities, the heavy metals used for galamsey leaves mercury in the water bodies for long periods hence the reason why the fishes’ die.

“Most of these species of fish use this lagoon and about 40% of these species are gone. Also with farming, most farmers use this water to irrigate their plants and also use the water for other personal purposes.” She disclosed
