Director of legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress, Edudzi Tamakloe has questioned the electoral commission’s decision to disqualify the party’s Amenfi Central Parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe.

The EC in a letter dated October 10th, 2024 explained that the decision was informed by a pending injunction notice issued by the Sekondi High Court dated May 31, 2024, in the case of Gyedu Frimpong & 4 Others vs. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the NDC, and the Electoral Commission.

However, reacting to the decision, Edudzi Tamakloe noted that the injunction was served before the party re-run its parliamentary primaries in the constituency.

Meanwhile the NDC will hold a press conference to address the matter today. General secretary of the party Fifi Kwetey in a statement said “

“The leadership of the NDC takes note of a statement from the Electoral Commission purporting to disqualify our Parliamentary Candidate in Amenfi Central.

We urge our rank and file, particularly the good people of Amenfi Central to await a press conference by the party tomorrow.

In the meantime, all should be assured that the will of the Ghanaian people shall not be subverted.”
