A petition has been filled against Dr. Ayew Afriyie the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore at the Ghana Medical Association for the suspension of his medical license.
Following Dr. Ayew Afriyie comments on a campaign platform which he claimed saying, “it is someone behind that to force the NPP government to stop galamsey so that we will lose the seats. We won’t stop galamseyers today or tomorrow.”
Pressure keeps has been mounting on the member of parliament after he made such reckless statement.
One particular from Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana Professor Ransford Gyampo who expressed his shock at the MP statement he said, “after a long period of schooling and training, a whole medical Doctor could callously speak gibberish to legitimize illegal mining like that?”.
On October 2nd, 2024, a petition has been filed against him by NDC’s Dr Sammy Ayeh at Ghana Medical Association (GMA) asking the leadership of the association to summon and suspend him over his reckless remarks on galamsey which has brought the image of all medical doctors into grave disrepute.
