The Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting between the various political parties and the Electoral Commission (EC) yesterday, Tuesday October 16, 2024 saw some events and confrontations which were new to Ghanaians.

Aside from the leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor making some allegations against former President John Mahama and threatening to sue him, the National Democratic Congress again had a confrontation with an attendee of the meeting.

The representative of the NDC was on the floor making some suggestions to the IT consultant of the EC,  Dr Yaw Ofori-Adjei, for the online verification system put in place by the EC.

The NDC rep indicated the party had collated the IDs of some voters and would love to use bulk SMS to verify the details of these voters on the provisional register ahead of the 2024 General Elections.

“For the online checking, Dr. Ofori I can see that it is a single entry. My suggestion is that some of the political parties, I can speak of the NDC, we have collated some voter IDs and we may try to do some bulk checking. So, if you might consider an option for bulk checking, and if it is not possible,  you can give us the API so we can do it from our backend,” he stated.

There was an interruption from someone in the group of attendees which quickly got a response from the NDC rep; “Do you even understand API? You don’t even understand so please keep quiet. You don’t understand what I am saying,” he retorted.

Starting today, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) has launched an online platform for voters to verify their details on the provisional register ahead of the 2024 General Elections.

This digital exhibition will run until Saturday, October 19, 2024.

To access the online exhibition, voters are encouraged to use the free shortcode *71151# or visit the EC’s official website, where they can verify their registration information by entering their 10-digit Voter ID.
