These casualties follow the resurrection of tensions in the Bawku chieftaincy disputes.

The events unfolded not long after chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre, one of the people laying claim to the Bawku chieftaincy title returned to Bawku after the Kumasi High Court revoked his arrest warrant on October 17, 2024.
