A protester has been spotted at the Day 2 of the concerned citizen anti-galamsey protest carrying a bucket of 16 rivers polluted by galamsey activities.

The man with a bucket and a Ghana flag around his neck was seen carrying a bucket with the description ‘16 rivers, all in 1 bucket, mixed with mercury, cyanide, and lead.’

Day 2 of the Concerned Citizens Anti-Galamsey protest kicks off with hundreds of demonstrators marching from Okponglo to Parliament House, demanding action against illegal mining.

The demonstration, which will run until October 5, aims to highlight the ongoing environmental destruction caused by illegal mining, locally known as galamsey.

The protesters are also demanding the immediate release of 53 Democracy Hub protesters who were arrested and still in remand during an anti-galamsey demo some weeks ago.
