Presidential candidate and leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has revealed that individuals involved in small-scale illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey, operate not only during the day but also at night.
During a night tour of a galamsey site, he observed that when illegal miners are prevented from working during the day, they continue their activities while the rest of the world sleeps.
“These miners come from Mali, Niger, and China, and when we stop them during the day, they resume at night.
You might see an area that appears untouched, but by morning, it has been mined. In just two hours, they can cause significant damage,” he lamented.
In a viral video, Cheddar was seen advising the illegal miners about the destruction their activities are causing to the country.
“The Ghana Police are protecting them at the site, and the Minister has bought the excavators.
They are rapidly degrading our lands.
Go to Accra and see the protests. I’m here to show Ghanaians that galamsey continues at night.”
His outrage comes in response to the ongoing crisis.
“Ghana Police is protecting them at site, Minister bought the excavator and they are busily spoiling our lands,
Go to Accra and see protest. I’m here to show Ghanaians that the Galamsey is going on at night” – Cheddar
