Chaos in Efutu Constituency as NPP and NDC clash

The National Democratic Congress’s demonstration in the Efutu Constituency nearly turned chaotic as members of the New Patriotic Party clashed with them.

The atmosphere was calm until members of the New Patriotic Party who were also staging a walk met with the NDC members who had gathered at the Winnesec junction.

Even though the police team that was already on grounds managed to handle the situation, the arrival of the Winneba Divisional Commander, ACP Jeffrey Darko, who was following the NPP walk got the situation escalated as members of the NDC accused him of taking sides.

There were some pockets of confusion between members of both parties and at a point between them and the police.

The NDC’s parliamentary candidate, James Kofi Annan who addressed the media questioned why the police granted permit for the NPP’s walk even though they had already sanctioned the NDC’s demonstration.
