Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) member of parliament for Agona West has withdrawn her decision to contest as an independent candidate in the December polls.
The member of parliament lost her bid to contest the seat again in the 2024 election in the NPP primaries to Christopher Arthur, who is now the current NPP parliamentary candidate for the upcoming December 7 polls.
Hon. Cynthia Morrison alluded to being treated unfairly by the NPP as her reason for seeking to run independent candidate.
In an image posted by Nyira FM, Kennedy Agyapong was visibly smiling as he and Cynthia Morrison posed to take pictures with Afenyo Markin, could he have had a role in convincing Cynthia Morrison to rejoin the NPP again?
With this development, both the NPP caucus and the NDC caucus have 136 members of parliament.
Cynthia Morrison’s seat was among the four seats that were declared vacant by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.
Meanwhile the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin today, 22 October 2024 adjourned parliamentary proceedings indefinitely, citing the lack of a quorum as the reason for halting the session and briefly mentioned that he had received a communication from the Supreme Court.
