Joyce Bawah Mogtari, campaign spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has strongly dismissed claims made by President Akufo-Addo that the NPP lost in all galamsey areas in 2020.
Addressing the people of the Northeast on the President’s tour of the region he said President Akufo-Addo stated, “In the 2020 election after the government had acted on the galamsey, he (John Mahama) went around all the mining districts in Ghana to tell them that when he comes he would give amnesty to anybody who had been attacked by the galamsey issue by my government”.
The President of Ghana further revealed that his government paid for their fight against galamsey, saying, “It is not surprising that the NPP lost in all those mining constituencies, but now he is saying that when he comes, he will enforce the galamsey laws we want the four times NDC presidential candidate to come clean and tell us where he stands”.
Reacting to President Akufo-Addo’s statement, Joyce Bawah Mogtari described it as a bloody lie and must be rejected because the facts from parliamentary representation do not support his claims.
She wrote on X, “First of, it is a bloody lie that the NPP lost in all Galamsey areas in the 2020 elections. A bare faced and brazen lie told by Akufo Addo and must be rejected because the facts from the parliamentary representation does not support it.
