The approval of the two Supreme Court Judges nominee, and the revocation of L.I 2462 alongside four other key government businesses are currently in limbo following Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin’s decision to adjourn sitting indefinitely.
Speaker Bagbin in a brief sitting yesterday announced the decision to suspend the house indefinitely amid the ongoing tension between the NDC and NPP MPs on which side is the legitimate majority caucus in the house.
The Speaker’s decision has since left 6 key government businesses have been left pending.
These include; the approval of the 2025 budget, revocation of the controversial L.I 2462 which permits mining in forest reserves, approval of $250 million Ghana Financial Stability Fund, approval of $250 million Ghana Energy Sector loan, approval of $350 million worth of tax waivers and approval of 2 Supreme Court nominees.
Reacting to the situation Deputy Chief Whip of the NDC Caucus in Parliament, Ahmed Ibrahim says his side will return to the house upon command of the speaker.
