The Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has alleged that Majority Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, was secretly smuggled into Parliament during the early hours of Tuesday, October 22, in violation of official protocols.

In a facebook post, Kwame Governs Agbodza claimed that Annoh-Dompreh was granted unauthorized access to the Chamber before the official opening time, despite a circular issued on Monday, October 21, which stipulated that the doors to the House would be opened at 8:00 am.

Agbodza accused Parliament’s security personnel of colluding with Annoh-Dompreh to facilitate his entry. He expressed concerns over the integrity of the process, suggesting that such actions could lead to tension when parliamentary proceedings begin at 10:00 am.

“Security in Parliament issued a circular that the Chamber be opened at 8 am, yet the security apparatus of this country connived and opened the doors for Annoh-Dompreh to enter the Chamber. I am here, and I see him inside with the doors locked. The question is, how did he get in there?” Agbodza remarked.

The Adaklu MP further warned that if any disturbances occur during the day’s proceedings, the blame should be placed squarely on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs and Parliament’s security.

“I can’t assure orderliness when Annoh-Dompreh has broken the law and is currently sitting in the Chamber and the security apparatus is not making any attempts to remove him.”

Annoh-Dompreh, however, said the decision of who sits on which side of the House lies in the bosom of the Speaker of Parliament and no other personnel.

“We have also given the strongest indication that we will occupy the Majority side of the House and the orderliness in the Chamber and the precinct of Parliament lie in the bosom of the Speaker.”
